By taking the time to listen, we can all learn from the stories of other people.

Aidan Brooks is a community photographer and visual storyteller dedicated to capturing the essence of individuals in an authentic and meaningful way. With a unique ability to connect through the lens, Aidan uses photography to spark conversations and delve into the emotions and stories that define the human experience.

Growing up as a shy boy in Wirral, Merseyside, Aidan found solace behind the camera, which became both a source of confidence and a means of connection. His dyslexia has always driven him toward images as a powerful way to communicate and express ideas that words sometimes cannot. This early relationship with photography shaped a lifelong practice grounded in empathy, curiosity, and the belief in creating safe spaces for people to share their stories freely.

In 2019, Aidan joined the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre in Kuwait as a staff photographer, an experience that expanded his perspective and refined his storytelling skills. Returning to the UK in 2022, he embraced a renewed commitment to capturing moments that resonate deeply with communities and individuals alike.

In 2024, Aidan collaborated with the Ithra Cultural Centre for the Learning Beyond conference, where he developed the β€˜Story of You’ project. This photography experience explored the universal love for storytelling as a unifying human experience, illustrating how shared narratives can build connections and foster understanding.

Most recently, Aidan partnered with Scarborough Pride, creating a compelling series of over 60 portraits celebrating the community's diversity and vibrancy. These works will be showcased in a celebratory exhibition at Scarborough Art Gallery in February 2025, highlighting his dedication to amplifying voices through photography.

Through his work, Aidan Brooks continues to challenge perspectives, celebrate humanity, and remind us of the stories that unite us all.
